The College will function as a Charity,
registered with the Charities Commission. It has also received registration from
Companies House and is a Company Limited by Guarantee. No: 3820063
Once established and having
been registered and validated by all the relevant Boards and Bodies, Shawndene Nursery
Training College will provide a high profile, two year training in Nursery
Nursing for students of the right calibre. They will have satisfied the College
authorities of their suitability by having the necessary academic
qualifications; passed an internal entrance examination; been successful in two
College interviews and able to confirm financial backing.
The College will also provide
a Day Nursery for young babies and children 0-4/5 years.
National surveys and reports
as well as our own market research over the past few years have shown an
overwhelming need for a fourth private College.
Shawndene will stand uniquely
as the only Christian Nursery Training College. A letter of commendation has been received from Baroness Cox,
looking forward to the College’s earliest inauguration. A letter of commendation
has also been received from Sir Archie Hamilton.
On the successful completion
of their two year training, students will be awarded the internationally
recognised Diploma in Child Care and Education) as
validated by CACHE (Council for Awards for Children’s Care and Education.
Please refer to accompanying letter); the Shawndene Diploma in Nursery Nursing; an NVQ Level 3 in
Children’s Care and Education; a Health and Safety
Certificate in First Aid; a certificate
in Food Hygiene, awarded by RIPHH (Royal Institute of Public
Health and Hygiene). Following three successful, consecutive years post
graduation in relevant employment, all students will be eligible to apply for
their Shawndene
Medallion.
All staff appointed will hold
appropriate, recognised qualifications with excellent references and will be
totally committed to the College, its ethos and the principles upon which it is
based.
