Jenny Tyler (née Barker)
I am now nearly thirty and a mother of a three year old as well as a Manager of an under two’s unit. I have sixty –three children under my care and many staff. This I am convinced is thanks to my Course Tutor. She worked us hard and taught us all that she knew. We were always able to be placed in excellent placements during our training, the most memorable one for me being on a maternity unit and a special care baby unit in a local hospital. It was thanks to this placement that I was accepted back at the hospital as an Agency Nursery Nurse in full-time employment on the same two wards. I truly hope that our Course Tutor is successful in setting up her College to train new nursery nurses. I class our training as ‘old school’ and fully appreciate everything that we were taught; especially when I now interview new nursery nurses who really show a lack of enthusiasm and a lack of genuine love for children. They have little idea of what good nursery nursing is about. I know Shawndene’s students will be the best ! |
